Fire Officer 1 addresses the job performance requirements of Supervisory Fire Officers as defined in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1021, Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications.
Hazmat Awareness and Operations training enables first responders to recognize, identify, and defensively manage hazardous materials (HazMat) or weapons of mass destruction (WMD) incidents. Based on NFPA 470 standards, the training covers identifying hazards, initiating protective actions, and performing initial control measures (Operations) to protect people, property, and the environment.
This 2-day course is designed to develop the decision-making skills needed by Company Officers (COs) to accomplish assigned tactics at structure fires.
