Idaho Career & Technical Education is responsible for the secondary, postsecondary, and adult career & technical programs delivered throughout Idaho’s public school districts and six technical colleges: College of Western Idaho, College of Southern Idaho, College of Eastern Idaho, Idaho State University, Lewis-Clark State College, and North Idaho College. We also facilitate collaboration between industry and public education to offer Workforce Training. These programs are short term, non-credit, cost friendly classes designed for individuals looking to upgrade training, increase their skills, or for industry to create custom classes for their employees. There are a number of related areas we oversee in Idaho including Adult Basic Education, GED®, and Centers for New Directions. Idaho Career & Technical Education:
Provides statewide leadership, advocacy, and coordination for career & technical education
Assists local educational agencies in program planning, development, and evaluation
Promotes the availability and accessibility of career & technical education
Prepares annual and long-range state plans
Provides a state finance and accountability system for career & technical education
Evaluates career & technical education programs for quality and consistency
Initiates research, curriculum development, and professional development activities
Collects, analyzes, evaluates, and disseminates data and program information
Coordinates career & technical education related activities with other agencies, officials, and organizations
