Support Fire Service Training (FST) by delivering training or evaluating certification exams.

Become an evaluator

Evaluators support International Fire Service Accrediting Congress (IFSAC) certification testing by observing and assessing candidate performance during skills exams. They use standardized skill sheets and evaluation guidelines to ensure testing is consistent, objective and aligned with National Fire Protection Association standards.

Evaluators are assigned to testing events across Idaho based on need, location and availability. Priority is given to individuals who live near the testing site and weren’t involved in training the candidates being evaluated.

To become an evaluator, you must:

  • Hold the appropriate certification or be qualified to instruct at the level you wish to evaluate
  • Complete evaluator training or participate in a mentored testing event

FST will work with you to determine your eligibility and next steps after you apply. Evaluators must complete refresher training every three years to remain current.
