The Firefighter 1 (FF1) Academy is an entry-level training program designed to prepare students for safe, effective, and professional service in the fire service. This academy provides the foundational skills and hands-on experience required to operate on the fireground as part of a team.
What You’ll Learn
- Fire behavior and firefighter safety
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) & SCBA operations
- Hose handling, water supply, and fire attack
- Search and rescue techniques
- Ground ladders and ventilation
- Forcible entry, salvage, and overhaul
- Fire service communications & incident command
- Live fire training under instructor supervision
What to Expect
- Combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training
- Physically demanding, team-focused environment
- Realistic fireground scenarios
- Training aligned with NFPA 1010 Firefighter 1 standards
Upon Completion
- Eligibility for Firefighter 1 certification (state/IFSAC/Pro Board, as applicable)
- Skills and confidence to serve as an entry-level firefighter
- A strong foundation for continued fire service training
