HOSA State Leadership Conference 2017

By Holly Connley May 9, 2017

In April over 800 students across the state of Idaho met in Boise for the Idaho HOSA State Leadership Conference 2017. These future health professionals competed in over 50 competitive events that included health service, emergency preparedness, leadership and teamwork events related to many facets of the healthcare industry.

Highlights of the conference included a health symposium with speakers from CVS Health, National Alliance of Mental Health (NAMI) and a tour of the ISU’s Treasure Valley Anatomy and Physiology Labs in Meridian, Idaho. The conference included a career information fair sponsored by St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center, as well as a walk through tour of a giant inflatable colon provided by St. Luke’s Mountain States Tumor Institute.

At the opening ceremony advisors were recognized for their dedication and years of service to Idaho HOSA. Some advisors of notable mention include:

Lucretia Bollinger, Nampa School District – 15 years

Tara Kishpaugh, Eagle High School – 10 years

Carie Staub, Meridian Medical Arts Charter High School – 10 years

HOSA Future Health Professionals is a nationally recognized Career and Technical Student Organization with over 40 active chapters in the state of Idaho. While the majority of the chapters are from secondary institutions, one chapter represented the growing collegiate membership from the College of Southern Idaho.

In June of 2017 over 150 state finalists will compete at the International Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida. We congratulate these finalists and wish them best of luck and a spot on stage in Orlando.
