Manufacturing Day 2016

By Matthew Rehl August 26, 2016

You and your students are invited to join us for MFG Day 2016!

What is MFG Day, you ask? MFG Day events in Idaho are part of National MFG Day; a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. MFG Day is celebrated in Southwest Idaho with an expo, breakout sessions and a message from state dignitaries. We are opening a Students-Only preview of the expo just for you! We will have 3-D printers, robotics demonstrations and hands-on displays. This Preview is open to all secondary and post-secondary students groups. Bring your students to this free, eye-opening event shining the spotlight on modern manufacturing.

By 2025, nearly 2 million manufacturing jobs in the US will need filled—many of them right here in Southwest Idaho. Manufacturing is Idaho’s fourth-largest economic sector. Workforce training and education is critical to support Idaho manufacturing and we need to encourage local students to consider the varied careers in manufacturing. Did you know that the average annual compensation in our manufacturing jobs was just under $65,000 in 2014? And that manufacturing accounted for 14 percent of the jobs added in Idaho between 2010 and 2015? That number will continue to grow.

Get those permission slips sent out and secure the buses (we have plenty of bus parking) and register your group today!
